Ceramic Plates, Dinner to Display

Wholesale ceramic plates in high-fired porcelain and stoneware — dinner, side and deep-plate formats with rim diameters in mm, decoration paths compared, and stock lines from 500 pieces per item.

The category, in plain terms

The plate is the flatware test case.

Plates are the category where food-contact rules are strictest and decoration choices matter most. Get both right and the rest of the program falls in line.

Bodies and routes. High-fired porcelain (1280–1380°C) for everyday and hotel plates; stoneware for the heavier retail look; underglaze blue porcelain where decoration has to sit sealed beneath the glaze — a route with structurally lower lead and cadmium migration risk, which is exactly what FDA and CA Prop 65 screening looks for.

Decoration paths. Sealed underglaze color, on-glaze decal and hand painting each carry different food-contact implications and different MOQs. We quote the trade-offs per SKU instead of defaulting you to whichever decoration the factory prefers.

Who buys them. Restaurants and hotels run the reinforced porcelain line in stackable dinner and side formats; retailers and ecommerce brands take reactive and underglaze decoration for the shelf; distributors consolidate mixed diameters into container programs.

Typical glaze families: warm white gloss · reactive grey-green · underglaze blue · hotel bright white

Buying notes

What to settle before you compare prices.

  • Diameter and rim design. Dinner, side and deep plates serve different course logic. We chart rim diameter in mm and stack height per SKU before you commit.
  • Decoration with eyes open. Sealed underglaze carries structurally lower migration risk; on-glaze decal and hand painting need a food-contact check per design. We state the path per SKU.
  • Flatware limits. FDA 21 CFR 109.16 flatware values (Pb 3.0 µg/mL, Cd 0.5 µg/mL enforcement guidance) and EC 84/500/EEC flatware limits (Pb 0.8 / Cd 0.07 mg/dm²) are the baselines we build to. Test reports available on request.
  • Stacking and breakage math. Stackable profiles cut freight per piece; plates pack individually wrapped in five-layer cartons with drop-test discipline per program.

Quick answers

Questions buyers ask about plates.

Which decoration lasts longest on a plate?+

Sealed underglaze color sits beneath the glaze layer, so the decoration is protected by the glaze itself — structurally the lowest-risk route for both wear and lead-cadmium migration. On-glaze decal and hand painting are quoted with their food-contact check per design.

What do restaurants and hotels usually spec?+

The reinforced porcelain line (FC-DW-05): stackable dinner and side formats in bright white gloss, quoted at 1000 pcs per item (typical), with replacement-buffer planning built into the program so year-two orders match year-one plates.

Can you match a plate we already sell?+

Send the plate or its drawings. We match rim diameter, profile and glaze against golden samples, and quote the mold situation honestly — an existing form keeps you at stock MOQ, a new form runs 1000–3000 pcs (typical).
